U11, 2021-2022 (Halton Hurricanes AAA)

The U11 AAA Halton Hurricanes continued their pursuit of a birth in the OMHA Championship Tournament, as round robin play continued on Friday night with a rematch in Burlington against the Eagles. The 'Canes were coming off a "come from behind" OT win at home last Sunday against the Eagles, and were looking to steal one on the road in a key matchup. The Hurricanes jumped ahead with 3 minutes to go in the 1st as Preston Sedlezky converted on a pass from Hayden Cochren. The U11 AAA Halton Hurricanes continued their push to qualify for OMHA Playoffs this weekend, with 2 more big games. On Saturday, the team traveled to Brampton to take on the 45's in a matinee matchup at Earnscliffe Arena. Owen John got the start for the 'Canes who were looking to bounce back from an OT loss last weekend.

On Sunday, the Hurricanes hosted Niagara at Sherwood Arena in game 2 of their 6 game playoff push to the OMHA tournament being held in Oakville @ the end of March. The 'Canes were coming off a 9-4 win against Brampton in game 1 while Niagara came into the game with a 2-0 record after wins of 6-0 and 3-0 also against Brampton. After a scoreless first period, the Hurricanes grabbed a 2-1 lead through 2 on goals by Tyler Hickey & Nolan Lillicrap. The 'Canes extended the lead to 3-1 on a goal by Hayden Cochren early in the 3rd before Niagara scored 2 powerplay goals to tie the game at 3's ...

The Halton Hurricanes got their playoffs off on the right foot, with a 9-4 home win over the Brampton 45's Sunday night in Acton. Owen John got the W in net, while Callan Cabral (2), Cal Reilly (2), James Del Duca (2), Preston Sedlezky, Anthony Terkalas,  and Tyler Hickey tallied goals.  The 'Canes found themselves up 3-0 after 1, and scored 5 in the 2nd to take an 8-2 lead before Brampton scored twice in the 3rd making the final 9-4.

The 2011 AAA Halton Hurricanes have wrapped up their regular season, and will be competing in SCTA playoffs over the course of the next 4 weeks. The 'Canes beat Guelph 4-1 last Sunday, and coupled with a Burlington loss were able to sneak past Burlington to finish in 3rd place behind Oakville and Southern Tier. For playoffs, the 1,2,7,8 teams are grouped together and the 3,4,5,6 teams are grouped together. In each group, teams will play 2 games against each opponent and once completed the top 2 teams from each group will move to the OMHA playoff championships.
