Tourney summary:

Game 1: Halton Hurricanes vs Ottawa Sting

Ottawa took a 1-0 lead with a goal with 55 seconds remaining in the 1st period and then stretched it to 2-0 with 8 minutes to go in the 3rd.

Hayden Cochren got the Canes on the board with 3:44 to go, and the Hurricanes carried the play for several minutes but could not score the equalizer. An empty net goal made the final 3-1 for Ottawa.

Owen John was solid in net for the Canes in the opener, making several key saves.

Game 2: Halton Hurricanes vs Toronto Young Nats

A different Hurricanes team came to play in the afternoon, as they took on the Toronto Young Nats and the entire team seemed far more intense and determined to rebound from a morning loss to Ottawa.

Tyler Hickey got the Canes on the board, scoring halfway through the first on a backhand from Hayden Cochren for a 1-0 lead. Hickey tallied his 2nd of the game, again on a backhand early in the 2nd as the Canes took a 2-0 lead. Rory Parker ripped home a wrist shot halfway through the frame stretching the lead to 3-0 and Preston Sedlezky tapped in a great pass from Evan Meehan following a great end to end rush giving the 'Canes a 4-0 lead through 2.

The Nats spoiled Brayden Park's shutout bid with 5 minutes to go but with no scoring from either side the rest of the way, the final remained 4-1 for the Hurricanes.

Game 3: Halton Hurricanes vs Brantford 99ers

Saturday morning saw the 'Canes take on the 99ers from Brantford in a back & forth type game.

Anthony Terkalas got the Hurricanes going, roofing one only 21 seconds into the game. Hickey tucked one home 3 minutes later and the 'Canes found themselves up 2-0. Brantford would get 1 goal back before Cochren notched his 2nd of the tourney with a minute and a half left in the 1st period stretchin the lead to 3-1.

The 99ers scored a minute into the 2nd period, cand then again 4 minutes later to tie the game up at 3's. The "Canes bounced back quickly after letting the 2 goal lead slip away as James Del Duca fired one home with 2:42 to go in the 2nd.

Del Duca would strike again in the 3rd, as Rory Parker sent him in on a partial breakaway, and we all know Jimmy James doesn't pass up on those opportunities to score... and he did, with a snipe to the top corner making the score and the final 5-3 for the Hurricanes.

Game 4: Halton Hurricanes vs Chatham Kent Cyclones

Game 4 saw the 'Canes needing a win, and an Ottawa loss for the club to advance to semi-final Sunday.

Cal Reilly buried one with 1:29 to go in the 1st to give Halton a 1-0 lead, and Rory Parker rifled home a rebound of a James Del Duca shot on a 2 on 1 to give the 'Canes a 2-0 lead.

Brantford narrowed the gap to 2-1 early in the 3rd but Brayden Park shut the door the rest of the way preserving the 2-1 victory.

The Hurricanes didn't get the help they needed in the other game and with Ottawa winning, the Hurricanes finished 2nd in their pool and were eliminated.

The team is back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Burlington to take on the Eagles at 7pm.
