Player Spotlight: Julian Vander Voet # 11
HH Minor Midget Player Spotlight is Julian Vander Voet #11 who plays forward.

From what I understand Julian, you have a bit of history with the Hurricanes.  Last year you played for Guelph but prior to that you were a Hurricane, correct?
Yes

How many seasons were you a Hurricane?
Starting in Novice, for 4 years.

Well, I know everyone is happy you are back.  You definitely make a difference out there with the speed of your wheels and you are one of the team’s best grinders.

Tell us 5 things we do not know about Julian:

1.  I have played for Brampton, Halton and Guelph.
2.  I will re-tape my stick during games depending on how things are going as a superstition.
3.  I still sleep with a blanket I have had since I was a kid.
4.  I miss my best friend who is my brother as he is away at university.
5.  I am Canadian in nationality but have the following heritage; Dutch, Spanish, Scottish, German, Turkish and Uruguayan.

Athletes have been known to have products named after them.  David Beckham has a cologne.  Michael Jordan has shoes.  What product would you like to endorse, and what is it called?

Hair Gel and I would call it Jubies Gel

Coaches are always saying sticks before chicks.  But something unbelievable happened, a celebrity called and asked you for a date.  If this happened, who is the celebrity and what did you do on the date?

Alicia Keys and we would go for dinner because I would like to talk with her.

Playing at this level of hockey means a big commitment from you and your parents.  Finish the following sentences:

Thank you Mom for sacrificing your time and energy for me.

Thank you Dad for pushing me to be my very best.

Lucas wanted me to ask you what the differences were from playing as a Hurricane from the time you played in Guelph as a Gryphon?

I learned a lot playing for both coaches.  I feel fortunate to have had Matt May and Beazer to gain knowledge and learn from.

The biggest difference is the locker room.  I have been able to reconnect with friendships I had previously.

Who should I spotlight next?  Liam Galton

Read Liam’s spot light to see the question Julian would like him to answer.

The picture Julian submitted is of himself at three years old and playing hockey for the first time at Canskate.
