U11 AAA Hurricanes head into playoffs
The 2011 AAA Halton Hurricanes have wrapped up their regular season, and will be competing in SCTA playoffs over the course of the next 4 weeks.
The 'Canes beat Guelph 4-1 last Sunday, and coupled with a Burlington loss were able to sneak past Burlington to finish in 3rd place behind Oakville and Southern Tier.
For playoffs, the 1,2,7,8 teams are grouped together and the 3,4,5,6 teams are grouped together. In each group, teams will play 2 games against each opponent and once completed the top 2 teams from each group will move to the OMHA playoff championships.
Group A will see: Oakville, Southern Tier, Guelph and Hamilton grouped up while Group B will feature Halton, Burlington, Niagara and Brampton.
The 'Canes road to the OMHA Championships begins this Sunday when they host Brampton @ 5pm in Acton.
The schedule for the other playoff games are as follows:
Feb 27th 1:30pm Niagara @ Halton
March 5th 12:15pm Halton @ Brampton
March 6th 5:30pm Burlington @ Halton
March 11th 7:30pm Halton @ Burlington
March 20th 6:00pm Halton @ Niagara
This will be a tightly contested group. The 'Canes have had four one goal games against Niagara this season, plus a tie while Burlington has seemingly had their number. The 45's have also been playing good hockey of late, so the 2 teams that come out of this grouping are going to earn it.
In Group A, Oakville heads in undefeated on the season while Southern Tier have won 7 straight. Hamilton and Guelph will have their hands full. Best of luck to all teams!
The 'Canes practice tomorrow afternoon before kicking things off in Acton for game #1.
