'Canes drop close game to Rangers
The Halton Hurricanes U11 AAA team was back in action with another pre-season tune-up on Tuesday night, when they hosted the Oakville Rangers.
The 'Canes gave up 2 quick ones 7 minutes into the 1st and trailed 2-0 before James "I find the net every game" Del Duca got the home side on the board with 5 minutes to go in the period.
4 minutes into the 2nd, Anthony Terkalas tipped home a Colin Mayberry shot to even things up and then Callan Cabral put the good guys ahead 3-2 with a few minutes to go in the 2nd period.
Oakville tied the game in the 3rd on the powerplay 6 and a half minutes in, and then scored the eventual winning goal on the powerplay with 2:48 to go.
The 'Canes had a great chance to tie late as Hayden Cochren was hauled down on a partial breakaway, and with the goalie out and a 2 man advantage the 'Canes pressed but could not get the equalizer.
Final Score: Oakville: 4 Hurricanes: 3
Full marks to the Rangers for the win. The 'Canes are eager to get back at it this weekend as they host 2 games, both at Sherwood Arena: Saturday at 4:30 pm against the Toronto Red Wings from the GTHL and then Sunday at 1:30 against the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs.
