Canes shut out Bulldogs
After a gap in their schedule, the Novice AAA Halton Hurricanes returned to the ice on Wednesday, traveling to Hamilton to close out their full-ice regular season against the host Bulldogs.

With a win, the Hurricanes would move past Burlington and into 3rd place behind 2nd place Niagara and 1st place Southern Tier.

Halton jumped out to an early lead 2:58 on a goal by Preston Sedlezky, and Hudson Day made it 2-0 converting a pass from Rory Parker at 7:39 of the 1st period. The 'Canes outshot the Bulldogs 12-0 in the first, and headed into the 2nd period with a 2 goal lead.

Just 27 seconds into the 2nd, Hayden Cochren beat 2 defenders to break in alone but couldn't beat the right pad of the Hamilton netminder. Fortunately, Preston Sedlezky was there to bang the rebound home giving the visitors a 3 goal cushion.

Defenseman Liam Fay potted one 2 minutes later on a strong point shot, converting a pass from his d-partner Evan Meehan, putting Halton up 4-0. Another D-man then got in on the goal scoring action as Colin Mayberry buried one from the mid-slot pushing the lead to 5-0.

As the 2nd period wound down, Rory Parker fired one home giving the visiting 'Canes a 6-0 lead after 2. The Hurricanes outshot Hamilton 12-3 in the 2nd period.

The lone goal in the 3rd period came from Anthony Terkalas as he beat the Hamilton defenseman wide, and rifled a shot over the goalies right shoulder pushing the score to 7-0.

The Hurricanes killed off a couple of penalties in the 3rd period, and outshot Hamilton 10-2 (32-5 overall).

With the win, Halton finishes 3rd in the league with a 5-2-1 record. League play will wrap up with a championship tournament the weekend of March 20-22.
